Complete mechanical and plumbing systems design for San Diego State University’s aquatic center. The Aquaplex includes an Olympic-style 50-meter competition pool, a 7,000 SF recreational pool and a hydrotherapy spa. It also includes a 4,850 SF facility for showers, locker rooms, administrative offices and support facilities. A 5,900 SF canopy shelters spectator seating for 500 as well as a meeting room below, and supports a large solar panel system used to supplement heating of the competition pool.
The mechanical systems consist of high-efficiency gas heating, electric cooling and roof top AC units, and equipped with a state-of-the-art energy management system.
The plumbing systems include a gas-fired boiler with domestic hot water storage tank.
