San Marcos K-8 Campus (Double Peak School)

Mechanical and plumbing design for the new San Marcos K-8 Campus for the San Marcos Unified School District. The site circulation has been carefully considered to accommodate all the various users of the school on a typical day. Together, all of these elements form a flexible and rich campus design that complements the architecture and mission of the school.

Mechanical systems include high efficiency gas electric rooftop package units and split systems AC units for select areas with efficient air distribution serving multipurpose, library, gymnasium support and kitchen areas. The gymnasium is served by a high efficient gas heat vent unit. The classrooms are served by a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system with horizontal fan coil units connecting to each condensing unit and allows simultaneous heating and cooling to each fan coil unit. Electrical rooms, elevator equipment rooms, and IDF rooms are served by individual cooling only split systems. Restrooms, locker rooms and Janitor rooms are exhausted with roof mounted or inline exhaust fans.

Plumbing systems include sanitary waste and vent serving each building. Domestic hot water serving each building is provided via natural gas-fired high-efficiency tank-type water heaters. A circulation pump is provided to maintain temperature of the hot water piping serving the building. A site medium pressure (5PSI) natural gas service is provided to serve the campus. Each building is provided with a gas pressure regulator to provide low pressure natural gas to each building. All buildings roof drainage drain to site bio-filtration. High-efficiency, low-flow plumbing fixtures are provided to conserve potable water.
