Cuyamaca College Ornamental Horticulture Complex

Mechanical and plumbing design for the remodel and redevelopment of the Ornamental Horticulture Complex, which includes addition of two new state-of-the-art greenhouses to be used by students in the college’s ornamental horticulture program. Also included in the scope is the remodel of Building M to create a new lecture classroom, two new lab spaces, lab prep, and storage, as well as new construction of office and retails space, a new storage building, an open-air vehicle storage canopy, and an open-air production shade house.

Mechanical systems include high efficiency Gas/Dx Rooftop Units to serve the workspace area. Heat/Vent units serve the warehouse space. All units are minimum two stage heating to reduce energy usage. The exhaust systems utilize EC motors and are interlocked with the mechanical and lighting systems for control usage and minimal run time.

Plumbing systems include high efficiency gas fired condensing water heaters, along with ultra low flow plumbing fixtures.

The design also incorporates extensive sustainability strategies that result in building performance that exceeds Title-24 energy requirements by 15%.
