MA Engineers has had extensive experience in the design of Central Plants and Utility Distribution Systems. This has included Central Plants serving an individual building to Central Plants serving a campus application with extensive utility distribution. Experience includes chilled water, hot water, steam generation, chilled water or ice energy storage and process piping. Utility distribution experience includes chilled water, hot water, steam / condensate and high temperature hot water.

East Village District Plant, San Diego, CA

Mechanical design of the district cooling plant for Downtown San Diego, located in the East Village district and serving the new Padres Petco Park, the Downtown Main Library (under design), the Omni Hotel and other large-scale facilities. Extensive life cycle studies were performed to analyze different alternatives to optimize the central plant scheme. Currently capacity is around 5000 tons of cooling and can be expanded to 10,000 tons in the future.
