MA Engineers’ experience includes assisted care facilities, laboratory settings, medical offices, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. Projects ranged from new construction to phased remodel projects that require facilities to continue to operate during construction. Additionally, we provide feasibility studies, HVAC, seismic retrofits and master plans. MA Engineers is very familiar with OSHPD, SB1953 and NPC codes and regulations and is performing ongoing work for numerous healthcare campuses including Loma Linda University Medical Center, Sharp Healthcare and Kaiser.

Edgemoor Geriatric Hospital, Santee, CA

HVAC and plumbing systems design for this two-story, 150,000 SF geriatric skilled nursing facility for the Department of General Services of the County of San Diego. This facility includes patient rooms, isolation rooms and administration, dining and kitchen areas. The HVAC system consists of custom-made air handling units located on the roof with constant volume reheat boxes for OSHPD areas and variable air volume reheat boxes for non-OSHPD areas. The DDC system employs open system architecture (LonWorks). The central cooling plant consists of two high-efficiency water-cooled centrifugal chillers, equipped with VFD, two cell cooling towers with VFD, primary/secondary chilled water system, etc. The central heating plant consists of two high efficiency gas-fired boilers with a variable flow pumping system. The plumbing system consists of complete hot and cold water distribution, vent and water system and medical gas equipment and piping distribution, including medical air, oxygen and vacuum.
